After recently moving to Canada from the U.K, Sephora with its vast range of brands and cosmetics was a god’s send, making the transition a little easier for a beauty lover/hoarder like myself. Not only is everything under the same roof, I’m also getting to try products from brands that I wouldn’t have had access to in the U.K. Enter Drunk Elephant.

After reading a majority of positive reviews of the brand in general, I wanted to try something that I needed whilst being somewhat budget friendly. At $42 for 150ml, I found it to be more reasonable than my previous cleanser, Fresh’s Soy Face Cleanser. With the change in environment, my skin had started to feel dry which fueled my curiosity to try something new.

Initial thoughts:

The packaging of the Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser is fun and vibrant, easy to open and close with the cap, perfect for those rushed mornings and tired nights when you can’t wait to get into bed. The cleanser is fragrance free, which won’t exacerbate sensitivity.

After 3 weeks of using the cleanser:

A little goes a LONG way. I use a pea sized amount on my Foreo LUNA Play Plus, cleansing my face and neck. I normally double cleanse, breaking down whatever makeup and impurities that are on my skin with Garnier’s Micellar Water, then jump in with the Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser. However, if you were to use the cleanser on its own, it would still do a great job. According to Sephora’s website the cleanser is at a non-stripping pH level of 5.5, has no essential oils, silicones, fragrances and is Vegan, Gluten-free and Cruelty-free. The product is moisturising and deeply cleansing. The added Virgin Marula oil and cantaloupe extract seriously nourished my dehydrated skin and left it supple. I noticed an improvement in the texture of my skin and it definitely looked more radiant.

Overall, the only drawback is the price - but with expensive ingredients such as Virgin Marula Oil, the fact that the brand is cruelty-free and vegan, gives you the assurance that the ingredients are high quality, I believe this is justified. I give this cleanser a well-deserved 5/5.
