Some normally bustling sites around the world are now practically ghost towns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governments across the globe are requiring complete or partial lockdowns in response to the outbreak, which has left major tourist sites and many public transit systems almost completely empty. People have been taking eerie photos of the abandoned cities all over the world as they go into lockdown. Streets are no longer filled with traffic, car parks are being left empty and even train stations only have a handful of people in them. Everything is closing as this situation is getting more serious day by day.

Like other huge historical events, this is also one of them. Coronavirus has and will have a huge impact in our history, and mostly in our economy history. The impact of the coronavirus is having a profound and serious impact on the global economy and has sent policymakers looking for ways to respond. China’s experience so far shows that the right policies make a difference in fighting the disease and mitigating its impact—but some of these policies come with difficult economic tradeoffs.

Success in containing the virus comes at the price of slowing economic activity, no matter whether social distancing and reduced mobility are voluntary or enforced.

All the cities and all the big touristic places are shut down due to this huge virus that is spreading so quick. Italy is one of the cities that had the most deaths but other countries are catching up.

All over the word big and small businesses are enforced to shut down for now until this nightmare is over. So the lockdown measures, despite being widely approved by the public opinion, were also described as the largest suppression of constitutional rights in the history of the republic.

Eventually we all hope for things to return to normal and move back at the pace we are all so accustomed to, however in this time where we are required to stay home perhaps we can use the time to reflect. Think about what things change the quality of your life, how you can implement them when things go back to normal. For now stay safe and stay home.
