Tips for space and wellness

As people spend more time at home due to COVID-19, the importance of the house has increased, and space has a significant impact on our health. So, what are some of the factors of the space that affect our health?

1.    Layout:

It is very important to determine the house's layout: how to arrange and utilize rooms or furniture. First, choose the space where you are most likely to spend time. This space can be a bedroom or a working space. Then set this space in the center or outer part of the house. This is what you decide. You can place this space in your preferred location and get energy from it. Next, determine the location of the remaining spaces. If you set the location of the space efficiently, you can get great mental help.

It is also very important to separate space. No matter how small the house is, separating the space according to the purpose is important. This is because separating space changes the psychological reactions that can be felt in each space. Choose the furniture you want and place it efficiently to feel happy from the space.

2.    Social Relations:

According to several studies, the social relationship has a profound effect on our health. So if you live in a quiet cabin built in the wilderness, this house would be the best place to meditate, but it may not be good for your health and well-being. An ideal house is a place where you can communicate and contact the community properly, and it is helpful for well-being just by having a light greeting with your neighbours. Therefore, the front porch in front of the house is significant.

Dakar David Kopec, an architectural psychologist and associate professor at the University of Nevada, said, "If you have a front porch, you can have a light chat with passers-by or neighbours walking your dog. Even if we can't have a deep conversation, it's good to get some sunlight that activates serotonin secretion and feel nature while out."

In the same context, it may be essential to have your own space when designing the house, but it is also very important to design the space with the optimal layout for social communication.

3.  Colour:

The colour of space also has a significant mental impact. First, find out what the ideal bedroom looks like. For 7 to 9 hours of sleep, the bedroom must be kept cool and dark. According to the results of colour studies, people's psychological reactions also vary depending on colour. Green and blue have the effect of lowering blood pressure and calming the mind, while red helps improve concentration and blood circulation.

In addition, the absence of colour has a negative effect. Bonnie Sanborn, an environmental psychologist and in charge of design research for the Chicago-based design company, DLR Group, says, "The cleanness and margins of white can paradoxically distract you." This is because there is no place to stay, so people can't concentrate well. Therefore, Sanborn recommended not to lose concentration by placing various items in the house in harmony. For example, putting an object that reflects or refracts light, installing an aquarium where you can see continuously flowing water, or placing plants.

4. Light:

Natural light is a natural mood booster. Research has proven that natural lighting, and the presence of Vitamin D, helps people to be more productive, happier, and healthier.

Also, don't forget the artificial lighting. A well-thought-out artificial lighting scheme can also help to improve your well-being, working to different moods, floor lamps, wall lights and decorative pieces. The above combination will satisfy the different requirements between practicality, ambience, light and shadow.

5. Scent:

The scent of space is also related to our health. Your signature moment should fill your space. If you smell your scent from the moment you enter your space, you will be mentally stable. Therefore, if you place a scented candle in your place, you can make a scent in the space.

As such, the elements of space affect our health. Remember the above factors and stay healthy in your space!
